Yes it’s expected. An LDAP user should be able to login during a time specified in ldap config file as cache.expiration. After a cache expiration it will fail to login.A good practice is to force an LDAP Synchronization through /crx/config/index.jsp

Normally you need to configure Day CQ WCM Page Statistics to be pointed to an author CQ instance (default is http://localhost:4502) therefore you can see stat in a siteadmin under impressions column (shows the activity on a page in number of hits.)
