Is there a relatively easy way to check whether all the mandatory fields are filled in before saving the form? I've seen that the "Submit" button does that but I wnat to save the form, not submit it via email. Thanks!

If I make an empty mandatory field hidden, do I have to set the mandatory property to "disabled" to prevent it from triggering the error message since it's empty?

A related topic. I've been using a script that Paul provided that, among other things, makes all the fields read-only on a contract-type document when the receiver opens the docuemnt to prevent changes to the field values. Recently, an unscruplulous customer used Acrobat to modfy the text-portions of the document and changed the terms of the deal without informing us that they had done so. Since folks were relying on a pdf as a "secure" document that would be difficult to edit, the contract chan...

Persistent LC crash when working on table in a form
Avatar

It's a fairly long form with a table at the end. The original logic was to make the table rows visible as the user checked various boxes on another page so the user could add the prices. However, every time I try to set the table rows to "hidden", LC crashes. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to set all the rows to visible, but as soon as I touch the table, LC crashes.LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2.1.3144.1.471865Dell Latitude D420 1.5GB RAM, WinXP SP2Tried it on another computer with WinXP SP3,...

I have a table with various product codes and prices in the rows. depending on whether the user has checked (or unchecked) the product descriptions on another subform, I would like to remove (or hide) the rows corresponding to the unchecked product descriptions. As an example, the table name is Table2, and the first row beneath the header is Row1[0]. The table is located on subform Exhibit_C.simply placing this script (I'll add the conditional later -- I just want to understand how to manipulate ...

How to add a footer row to an existing table?

The LiveCycle on-line help is pretty cryptic on this one . . . .I have an existing table in a form in which the designer (me) left off a footer row by mistake. In lieu of deleting the table and rebuilding it using the Table Assistant, is there a way to add a footer row to the existing table? The on-line help seems to indicate that it's possible, but offers little in the way of instruction on how to do it.Thanks in advance!Bill

The current Designer level is 8.2 which comes with Acrobat Pro 9, so if you're using Designer ES, you should already have it.

If the form doesn't have extended Reader rights, the completed form can't be emailed from Reader. The XML data can be emailed from Reader without the Reader extensions -- maybe that's what's happening? Do some users have Acrobat and some have Reader?

While I was trying to figure out why the script for changing field appearances would work on the screen but not in the saved form (thanks to Paul for his help infiguring it out!), I ran across a web page which described how to use validation patterns that were more sophisticated than usual in that if the currency field was null, the usual .mandatory trap worked, but if a 0 was entered the field value was changed to "n/a" even though the field was a Numeric field. I unfortunately did not bookmark...

Nuts. I get the following error message:"1305 Static PDF FormDynamic XML Form Target version does not support the Preserve Scripting Changes To Form When Saved option. Select File > Form Properties, click the Defaults tab and, under Preserve Scripting Changes to Form When Saved, select Manually." The documentation indicates that Reader 8.0 is required. The form has to run with Reader 7.0.5. So how do I preserve the scripting changes manually/can Reader 7.X do this?

If I'm not mistaken, the "saveAs" function takes the name file for the file to be saved from the form name, and as far as I know, there's no way to programmatically change that. The user, can, however, change the file name to anything s/he wants in when in the "File, Save As" dialog box.

Paul -Thanks for the help. The script worked perfectly -- I added some app.alerts in various points to understand what was going on. I hadn't thought about using scripts -- that's a great idea.I do have another issue that's arisen -- I want to use the Reader Extensions so that the users can email the completed form. After the script runs, the screen looks perfect. However if they either save the completed form or email the form, what gets saved or emailed is the form with the data, however, none...

I'm using the following to check that all the required fields in the form are completed before mailing.var varcheck = xfa.form.form1.execValidate();Although all the fields highlighted in red, including a selection in a radio button group)are completed. It's still returning false. Is there a way to find out where it's failing (i.e., which required field(s) are still not filled in)? Thanks in advance.

I took your advice and added a couple of app.alerts to help figure out what's going on. I'm not following the code in your .xdp example very well, particularly since I'm new to Adobe. This one came in quite handy:app.alert(oFields.item(nNodeCount).name) the message "XFA:form1[0]:Page3[0]:Button1[0]:click form1.Page1.RM_Data_Fee.ui.textEdit has no properties"seem to come up on check boxes AND Numeric fields -- the looping works fine until it hits one of those field types. At that point I get the m...
