The sorting is in the order of the objects in the reports. But would love to be able to sort a matrix report by the aggregated values.

If you switch a report to text mode you can replace the equals string with FIELD:name and then when you switch back to standard mode you should be able to select the second field to compare with. Making it easier in standard mode would be great however.
