you need the MM formula now. It is as of this latest release as Workfront is updating the object model

Well you need a tool that is capable of automating activity. Any of these "integration" tools would do that too. Workfront does not have an inbuilt Automation engine. It relies of Workfront Fusion (or you could write a routine using the API and host it somewhere yourselves).

Generally they are in alphabetical order. If they are custom fields they are in the order of the list, which the user can set to sort A-Z. They just need to refresh that sort if they add a new item to the list
