The 1st thing to check is to make sure you have the proper permission to the node. If you have the proper permission to the node(s) the browser debugger tool might provide more details on what might be causing the issue.

If the issue persists after force clientlibs re-compilation you may wanna check the browser debug tool as well as "error.log" for any relevant error that may help to understand what might went wrong.

Can you verify if the same query written in SQL2 would output the results with proper ordering ? Is this isolated to XPATH ?

On top of what Vishu suggested you should tune the JVM wisely according to the server real needs. I have seen users to configure large heap size hoping to gain better performance. This can cause performance issues relevant to full GC which is proportional to the size of the heap.

I do not believe there is an all-inclusive switch to enable audit logs for "all" activities. You can enable audit log on demand for specific activities. For instance  to enable auditing of DAM activities you have to configure the relevant OSGi component i.e. “Day CQ DAM Event Recorder”.
