Associating Subsequent Occurrences of the Same Event to a single profile in an in-progress Journey

Hi,

In a Unitary Event Journey with an entry event (e.g. "Event01"), what occurs when a profile which is already in the journey triggers another event of the same type (Event01)?

This wiki explains that the profile can only have one instance in one journey at one time: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/journey-optimizer/using/orchestrate-journeys/manage-journ...

However, what happens to the data of subsequent events if a profile is already in a journey?

E.g., profile triggers Event01 with status = 'a'

Profile enters Journey

E.g., profile triggers Event01 again with status = 'b'

Profile is already in Journey with Event01 status = 'a', so profile does not enter Journey with Event01 status = 'b'.

Is it possible to access the second occurrence of Event01 with status = 'b' for the Profile which has already entered the Journey with Event01 status = 'a'? Will the journey's Event01 context update to show status = 'b' upon the second event occurring, or does that data need to be read into the journey?

We want the journey to end for a Profile if they trigger another Event01 while already in the journey. How can we accomplish this?

Thanks,
Skyler

Hi, the given solution did not address my question, but my team was able to determine on our own that subsequent events will propagate to a user who has already entered a journey.

@SkylerQu2 If you want to use the unitary event with repeated profiles. you can control using the below option called allow re-enterence. you can set you specific date. Untill that date, the same profile will not be repeated.  Otherwise, you can uncheck this option. so that same profile will come back again and again.

However, your second question is to block the user with event01 with status =a. then you can use the exit criteria as well.

Adobe recently announce suppliment id for re enter the same profile again and again. please go through the below link

Hi @gengaipandi03

For clarification,

If a user enters a journey at for EventA at 10:00, and then triggers another EventA at 10:05 while still in the journey, we want the user in the existing journey to use the data from the latest occurence of EventA. Is this possible?

Thanks,

@SkylerQu2 For event, you can remove the allow reenterence checkbox which i mentioned above for your use case. It will allow all the new entrance of the same user again and again
