Integrate VisitorAPI into DTM

Adobe is pushing both DTM and VisitorAPI and yet 

a) There is no native VisitorAPI integration within DTM

b) There is no documentation (that I could find) for best practices / methods on how to integrate VisitorAPI into DTM (I looked in both Adobe Analytics online docs and DTM online docs)

At a mininum I would like to see a documentation update explaining best practice / method for implementing VisitorAPI within DTM.  But ideally I would like to see it integrated into DTM as a native thing.

FYI for those who are interested, 

What I have been doing is within the Adobe Analytics tool config > library management, I specify "custom"  and "code hosted in DTM" to manually include the AM lib, and I add VisitorAPI into that code box above the AM core code. 

So far this seems to work, but at the cost of using the new "Automated by Adobe"  feature Adobe added
