Why would two identical PDF Forms be different sizes?

I created interactive PDF forms for my organization, and I am have a problem with the file sizes of the returned forms varying greatly.  The master copy of the empty form is 162KB, I can fill it out and submit it without seeing much of an increase in file size.  The issue is sometimes, not always, when others submit/save it, the file jumps to 3-5MB in size.

Information about the forms nad my office environment:

The forms were created in Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 9.0.

I have them set up to submit a PDF through email.

I know the version of Arcobat varies accross my end-users.

Is there a way for me to analyze two of the returned forms side by side to see where the difference in size is occuring? (Note: the returned information in the form fields is very similar, I'm looking for a way to see past the user interface)
