password protect multiple fields

Is there anyway to password protect multiple fields on a form to prevent a user from freely changing the content?

That is, if a user has opened the form, it should be read only, but if he want to edit the data he must enter a password to do so...

Kingphysh has a neat solution here: Password protect subforms

It is not high tech and someone with a bit of knowlwdge of Acrobat/LC Designer could get past it, but for general use it is good.
