Overflow trailer works outside of "Referenced Objects" but not inside

I understand that the subform needs to be inside of the "Referenced Objects" to keep it only showing up as a trailer and not showing up where you placed it on the page. Though when I move it into Referenced Objects it doesn't show up at all.
