PDF generation highly CPU expensive

Avatar

Not applicable
Hi,

We are experiencing heavy CPU activity (100%) when Form Server is generating pdfs.

The Adobe LiveCycle version is 8.2 and its running on a WebLogic 9.2. The pdf genereration involves a render service and an assembler service, the latter used for flattening. The forms are pre-populated, with sometimes, quite large xml files. The server itself is very powerful (it more than meets standard requirements for Adobe LC) and uses automatic thread optimization so were quite surprised to see the CPU reach 100% when Adobe generates forms.

Is it normal that this much CPU power is needed when Form Server is rendering forms (pre-populating)?

Are there any server tweaks which can address this issue?

Kind regards

Lars

Based on the description of your orchestration, this is "normal".

Can you use CPU-Z and report the type of CPUs the server has?
