LiveCycle ES on JBoss Configuation Error

Avatar

Former Community Member
Hi,

I'm trying to install Live Cycle JBoss on a windows 2003 server virtual machine (on vmware) and the following situation has occurred:

The installation works fine, but when I launch the configuration manager (both with express mode and custom) and start the configuration and deployment of the EARs I receive the following error :

Error [ALC-LCM-999-022]

Failed on 'Stopping JBoss Service for AdobeLiveCycle ES v8.0'

Service Shutdown failed for: JBoss for Adobe LiveCycle ES v8.0

I cheked the configuration manager logs and on some lines it said "service not started or not found" regarding the JBoss process, so i started the Jboss service manually and tried running the configuration manager again but i get another similar error message:

Error [ALC-LCM-999-021]

Failed on 'Stopping JBoss Service for AdobeLiveCycle ES v8.0'

Service Shutdown failed for: JBoss for Adobe LiveCycle ES v8.0

Unexpected service state = -1

Anybody have any ideas about what the problem is? am i missing something?

thanks in advance.

Does userid that you installed with have the local security policy set so that you can start services. This is in Start > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy in W2K3. In the Local Security Settings, in the left pane, select Security Settings > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment. In the right pane, double click "Log on as a service". In the Log on as a service Properties dialog box,in Local Security Setting tab, verify that the user you installed with is there.

Another issue could be simply the password you entered that starts the service is incorrect. It happens to me sometimes.

Hope that helps!

I get the same problem...

This is message from Adobe... (not very helpful)

You should go to Enterprise Support for this there are quite a few possible reasons. Check the log file in LiveCycle\jboss\server\all\log\server.log

Do you have a solution to this problem?

I have the same problem here.

Error [ALC-LCM-999-022]

How did you fix it?

Hi!

I'm facing same problem on Windows XP and Windows 2003 server. Using latest JDK 1.6

Jaroslav

JDK 1.6 is not supported (and might not work), only 1.5 is.

As you, I have the same problem during the JBoss configuration. I'm using jdk 1.5.11 and I want to install 'Adobe LiveCycle v8.0' on a windows 2003 platform.

I have also configured the 'Local Security' as someone has suggested, but the problem keeps on.

Does anybody how to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Just try another version. Some older one. It seems to be version sensitive ;)

Thanks Jaroslav, but I already downloaded and installed java 6, instead previous version (if I try with an older one, what version you suggest me?) but I don't know How tell tu Adobe where find new JDK instead of actual path (c:\sun\sdk\jdk\jre).

TIA!

Avatar

Java 6 did not work for me. I use 5_0_15 and everything is OK now.

During the installation process there is a question about JDK path.

Thanks for help, but nothing... I download and Installed in same old version (5.0.10) new Jdk 5.0.16 (in c:\sun\sdk), but the message is the same... I notice that If I manually start the service in service manager, the message change: a new line is add at the end of that one with this communication: "Unexpected state -1", and then I watch in service manager Jboss service stopped, then Installation process succeed in stopping service, but return value seems incorrect... bah?

Avatar

Level 4
That is bad. If you can, delete whole C:\adobe folder. Delete 5.0.10 java also. Start cmd (start / run program / cmd <enter>) and type: java -version<br />It should report java varsion. If not, there is problem in PATH variable. Check JDK_HOME variable also. If this don't work, set PATH and JDK_HOME variables properly.<br />Then start installation again and let me know if it succeeded.

Hello again, sorry but I was out this weekend... I try to make point of my situation.

I stop all service (Jboss and Mysql) related to adobe installation and I delete C:\adobe folder and all subfolder also. I deleted C:\SUN, too.

Now when I write this, see output:

C:\Documents and Settings\Antonio>java -version

java version "1.6.0_07"

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_07-b06)

and this is the output of set command:

Finally, this is the java virtual machine than I installed in C:\SUN and that is the path where I tell to Adobe to find the right JVM during installation, is all right?

Hi Antonio,

you did it well and now I can see, there is the problem in already installed java in some IBM product (C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\SQLLIB) you have. So, when you just install another java, it will not help. You must also change the PATH variable to point to new 1_5_0_16 version.

There are 2 ways:

1. change it globaly - there is risk, that IBM product will stop working

- From the desktop, right-click My Computer and click properties.

- In the System Properties window, click on the Advanced tab.

- In the Advanced section, click the Environment Variables button.

- Finally, in the Environment Variables window, highlight the path variable in the Systems Variable section and click edit.

- Add path to C:\SUN\jdk .... at the begin of the PATH.

2. change it localy

- run "cmd"

- type "SET PATH=C:\SUN\jdk.... ;%PATH%

- now run LC installation from this window

3. not nice workaround

if you can, rename C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\SQLLIB to C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\SQLLIB.bak

than start the installation. After LC is installed, rename it back and change LC starting file

C:\adobe\LiveCycle8.2\jboss\bin\run.bat

by adding SET JAVA_HOME=C:\SUN\jdk... at the top of the file.

Hello again, somewhat is changed! But now the pass where installation blocked before is disappeared! Now I'm in LiveCycle ES Database Initialization, in Host there's "localhost", and in HTTP Port there's "8080". I click on Initialize, and the message is:

On title: Bootstrapping error ALC-TTN-105-000.

Red X: Failed on retrieving tasks from server.

Message: ALC-TTN-105-000 Could not connect to bootstrap servlet: Port [connection refused: connect] may be invalid.

I notice that Jboss directory miss in C:\adobe\livecycle8.2 folder.

I hope that it don't matter with the deletion of C:\Jboss folder when I deleted all things as you suggest me... :-(

Sorry, help me!

Avatar

Level 4
Hi! Don't worry. JBoss is part of the installation, so it is installed again in new installation. The reason JBoss not start can be read from log file somewhere in jboss/server/all/log directory. (sorry, my server is off now) There are two files stdout.log and boot ... I'm guessing ;)

What can cause the problem is - there is already something occupying the port. Just try in console "netstat -an | find "8080". If the output is empty, the port is free. If there is someting like " TCP 0.0.0.0:8080 0.0.0.0:0 ", take a look what is running on your system.

Ok, there aren't any services at port 8080... but Jboss folder still missing!

Here is complete tree of c:\adobe\livecycle8.2
