Just want some clarification...

Here's my situation..

I currently have a 3rd party web hosting service, but i want
to use FDS. It makes sense to me that FDS has to be installed and
the service running in order for it to work on the server. So if I
make an application using FDS and upload it to the hosting server,
it will not work, correct?

That said, from what I understand it is possible to access
FDS remotely if I specify the right address in the config files.

What I want to know is.. if I do this and point it to my
server, will it work?
