Hi, i've read the posts and the adobe documentation (are they scared that somebody could understand how get it right !*? ... geez, is that bad).

Anyway:

1) i`ve got jdk1.5.0_06 and jre1.5.0_06

2) installed Workflowserver (jboss automatically deployment). Didn't run the ConfigurationManager.

3) installed FormManager (jboss automatically deployment). Didn't run the ConfigurationManager.

4) installed ARES --> this didn't work cause ARES didn't find any JVM.

Any hint?

Thanks,

Valerio

We have had the same problem, we solved it by using another version of JDK. I know the documentation says 1.4.2 or above, but we found out that above means, above 1.4.2 and under 1.5.0 :-) .

Hope this helps you

Actually, several people have reported problems with 1.4.2_10. We use 1.4.2_08, and it seems to work very nicely.

Ok,

this installation seems to have been successful. I must say i'm not really sure, cause i dind't tested the whole thing.

For everyone who will unlikely have to set up these technologies (WorkflowServer + FormManager + ARES) a short guide on how i proceeded:

1) installed j2sdk1.4.2_11
many problems are linked to the version of the JVM -->
see Soren H Nielsen's and Howard Treisman's posts in Valerio Chiessi, "How to Istall WorkflowServer + FormManager + ARES" #3, 22 Mar 2006 3:35 am
and Clifton Cline's in Stone_Golem, "Installing WorkFlow with ARES, Form Manager and Forms" #13, 22 Mar 2006 6:18 am

I couln't find a rule in this misbehaviour. this all seems to be very random: some times goes and some times not.

2) installed the Workflowserver, config and deploy JBoss automatically, don't run config manager.

3) installed the FormManager, config and deploy JBoss automatically, don't run config manager.

4) installed ARES, config and deploy JBoss manually

5) Run Configuration Manager, turnkey option

6) stopped JBoss

7) manually deployed ARES to JBoss
here i found nothing anywhere on the subject how to deploy manually this application after have deployed automatically the first two:
for instance deploying ARES manually you have to copy <product root>/conf/login-config.xml to <appserver root>/server/all/conf. Having already installed Workflow Server and FormManager and deployed these automatically to JBoss is in the appserver directory already this file ... how to handle this ?? and also the to *.xml files have the same name but different sizes *sig*

I also suggest to read

Stone_Golem, "Installing WorkFlow with ARES, Form Manager and Forms" #13, 22 Mar 2006 6:18 am
Valerio Chiessi, "How to Istall WorkflowServer + FormManager + ARES" #3, 22 Mar 2006 3:35 am

watch the useful "Configuration Manager Error Messages" docunentation
http://www.adobe.com/support/products/enterprise/knowledgecenter/c4698.pdf
