Comb field issue

I have a template (XDP) to which I provide the XML and the values are prefilled and a static PDF is returned back. Everything else works fine except the comb field. The field does not return back as COMB field. it comes back as a regular text field with appearance Solid Box. Any ideas??

Am I missing something here? Is the comb field not supposed to return backa s comb in static PDF?
