CJA: Bounce Rate calculation?

Avatar

Community Advisor

Hi Community,

Can someone give me a way to calculate Bounces & Bounces Rate in CJA specifically? Looking for more of a direct way to define the metrics/filter. This metric is unfortunately not available OOB in CJA but is available in AA.

Thanks,

Chetanya Jain

Not sure if directly it could be done.

One of the indirect ways -

Bounce rate shows the ratio of sessions that contained exactly one hit compared to the total number of sessions.
Bounce it’s a calculated metric that can be created using a filter that includes the session with 1 event only.
And then create a calculated metric with the ratio between sessions and bounces.

In CJA the concept of session goes beyond the sequence of hits collected on the website, so you should take this in account.

For Bounces, counting just one event will not be accurate since we may have events like page views, decisioning events, click events, etc.

Do you think the definition below is more accurate for defining bounces? Thoughts?

I recently wrote an Experience League blog post about Customer Journey Analytics (CJA) bounces and bounce rate options, including their implications. The article delves into the use of derived fields and calculated metrics, providing illustrative screenshots of the logic.
