Step-by-step guide for using Adobe Experience Platform
-
Log in to Adobe Experience Platform: Go to https://experiencecloud.adobe.com/ and log in to your Adobe Experience Platform account.
-
Navigate to the platform: Once you're logged in, you'll be taken to the Experience Platform home page. From here, you can access all of the tools and features that are available in the platform.
-
Create a schema: In AEP the data to be ingested need to be bound to a specific structure called schema. Click on the "Schema" tab in the left-hand navigation menu and then click the "Create Schema" button. Choose a base class for the schema and the name for your schema and add all the fields and identities to the schema. You can even leverage one of the predefined fieldgroups. I can cover schema base classes and fieldgroups in one of the next blog.
-
Create a dataset: To start working with data, you'll need to create a dataset. Click on the "Datasets" tab in the left-hand navigation menu and then click the "Create Dataset" button. Choose a name for your dataset and select the schema to associate this dataset with.
-
Connect data sources: Once you've created a dataset, you can start connecting data sources to it. Click on the "Sources" tab in the left-hand navigation menu and then click on "catalog" tab. Select the type of data source that you want to connect (such as a CRM system or a web analytics tool) and follow the on-screen instructions to set it up. This includes creating a data mapping to transform the incoming payload to match the destination schema structure.
-
Ingest data: Hook in your source of data to start pushing data into the new data flow.
-
Create segments: With data ingested into your dataset, you can start creating segments based on that data. Click on the "Segments" tab in the left-hand navigation menu and then click the "Create Segment" button. Choose the criteria that you want to use to define your segment and save it.
-
Activate segments: Once you've created a segment, you can activate it to start using it in your marketing campaigns. Click on the "Activation Destination" button on the top-right of the page and then choose the channel that you want to use (such as HTTP API or AWS S3). Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the campaign and choose the segment that you want to target.
That's a basic overview of how to use Adobe Experience Platform. Of course, there are many other features and tools available in the platform, but this should give you a good starting point for getting started with the platform. I can cover each of them separately in detail in future blogs. Following are the list of best practices to be followed.
Best Practices
Adobe Experience Platform (AEP) is a powerful customer experience management platform that allows businesses to collect, manage, and activate customer data to deliver personalized experiences. To help you get the most out of AEP, here are some best practices you should keep in mind.
Plan your data model carefully
Before you start collecting data in AEP, it’s important to carefully plan your data model. This means determining what data you want to collect, how it will be organized, and how it will be used. By doing this, you can ensure that your data is structured in a way that makes sense for your business and is easy to use.
Implement a consistent data governance strategy
Data governance is a critical aspect of AEP. It’s important to have a consistent data governance strategy in place to ensure that data is accurate, up-to-date, and reliable. This includes defining data ownership, implementing data quality controls, and establishing data usage policies.
Use real-time data activation
AEP allows you to collect and activate data in real-time, which means you can use it to deliver personalized experiences to customers in real-time. By using real-time data activation, you can create personalized experiences that are more relevant and timely, which can help improve customer engagement and drive conversions.
Leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning
AEP offers powerful artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities that can help you make better use of your data. By using these tools, you can gain insights into customer behavior, identify patterns and trends, and optimize your marketing and advertising campaigns.
Integrate with other Adobe products
AEP is designed to work seamlessly with other Adobe products, including Adobe Campaign, Adobe Analytics, and Adobe Target. By integrating these products, you can create a comprehensive customer experience management strategy that allows you to collect, analyze, and act on customer data in real-time.
Monitor and optimize your data usage
Once you have your data model in place and have started collecting data in AEP, it’s important to monitor your data usage and optimize it over time. This includes identifying data that is no longer useful, removing duplicate data, and ensuring that your data is being used in compliance with privacy regulations.
Train your team on best practices
Finally, it’s important to train your team on best practices for using AEP. This includes providing training on data governance, data activation, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and other key aspects of the platform. By doing this, you can ensure that your team is equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to make the most of AEP.
In conclusion, Adobe Experience Platform is a powerful tool that can help businesses deliver personalized experiences to customers. By following these best practices, you can ensure that your use of AEP is effective and efficient, and that you are able to make the most of the platform’s many features and capabilities.
