And Assets uploaded in AEM reflect in DM without any Image or Viewer preset created in AEM and their Dynamic media URLs work as well.
And also couldn't understand the difference between Image Preset, Viewer Preset and Asset processing profiles
Could someone please explain me the difference between Image presets, Viewer Preset and Dynamic media processing profiles?
Thanks

The main difference between image presets and viewer presets in Adobe AEM Dynamic Media is that image presets define the size and format of an image asset, while viewer presets define the way that an image asset is displayed in a viewer.
Feature | Image Presets | Viewer Presets |
What they do | Define the size and format of an image asset |
Define the way that an image asset is displayed in a viewer
|
When to use them | When you need to create different versions of an image for different devices and screen sizes |
When you need to control the way that an image is displayed in a viewer
|
Scope | Apply to a specific image asset |
Apply to any image asset
|
Here are some examples to help you understand the difference between image presets and viewer presets in Adobe AEM Dynamic Media:

Image presets are to transform images.
Viewer presets on the other hand, is to control how a viewer (not the images within it) displays on the website.

Thanks @kautuk_sahni
Appreciate it, it is much clearer now.
However, a suggestion.
Would be great to explain/elaborate the term 'Viewer" more clearly in Adobe public documentation.
'Viewer' is a generic word and can mean anything.
Providing screenshots and sample URLs of 'Viewer' in documentation would help.
Also,
This URL - http://s7d1.scene7.com/is/image/jpearldemo/AdobeStock_74043302?$Medium$
mentioned in the 'Try it' link on this page
Applying the image preset Medium to generate a rendition of an image.
You copy the URL, then paste it into your browser to check the appearance of the image. Try it.
doesn't work. It gives image not found error. -
Unable to find image
I will share this feedback with the documentation team.

For someone looking for an analogy to understand difference between viewers and presets, try this,
think of the viewer as a digital photo frame (or your smartphone) and the preset as the images of a specific size that show within that frame (or smartphone).
Viewer
If the photo frame must show images with higher brightness during the daytime. In this case, we would want to adjust the photo frame's or phone's brightness & contrast settings to adjust to the ambient light. The Images shown on the device do not really change. However, the device's display settings are being adjusted here.
On the other hand, during evening/night hours we would want to adjust the brightness and contrast settings to adjust to the low light of the room.
Preset
The image sizes to be displayed on a phone or a photo frame would need to be different. So this is where the presets play a crucial role. The photo frame could request images of a certain dimensions and a phone could request images of a different size. So a preset could be created for a phone and another preset could be select created for a photo frame.
thanks,
