What does Language Root checkbox in Advanced tab of page properties do?

Hi All,

Could you perhaps explain my two questions in a few words?

1. What does it do when selected the Language Root checkbox in Advanced tab of page properties?

2. What’s the impact of not selecting it?

In this blog they  mention that the check box "Must be checked if the page is the root of a language copy".

This is only relevant if you plan to use the Language Copy functionality, check [1] for it.
