Unable to install the new Java helper class in AEM 6.5.3 after upgrade from AEM 6.3

Avatar

Level 2

Hi All,

I am seeing issues while trying to install the Java helper class in AEM 6.5.3 version. This issues is in particular with the newly created helper classes in 6.5.3 version whereas the ones created in 6.3. version seems to be working without issues.

Also, I am unable to read the page properties while doing enhancements in the clases in 6.5.3 version originally created in 6.3 version.

I did check in the system console bundle but could not find the newly created models. Could this be related to POM.xml files? Please advise

Thanks,

Gokul B

@GokulBakthavachalam ,

Try checking for the bundle's dependency on felix console. I am pretty sure that most of the dependencies will be in red.
Update your dependencies as per the new version of AEM 6.5 SP3 and try to resolve all the dependencies of felix console.

I migrated from AEM 6.4.3 to 6.5.5, faced similar issue, but in my case it got resolved by updating the dependencies of adobe libraries in react-app code in package.json file. So if you are using AEM with React, then try to upgrade those dependencies as well.
But at last option of upgrading dependencies paid me off!!.

Happy Coding!!

The question posted is not that clear.

If you are talking about the helper class which is part of the custom bundle deployed in OSGI , then either bundle is not active or the component is not active . That might be because of one(or few) of the dependencies are not resolved new to bundle versions.

Once the pom.xml is updated with the right version for the bundles which are not supported with the newer version of AEM , this issue should be resolved.

I tried to override the list component Impl class and the component is in active state also I can see the client lib folders are working fine .

Only the new model is not installing in the bundles and other models are installed for other components .

Please check the below versions in parent POM.xml and correct if anything is wrong.

Also I have attached the core POM.xml file.

Hi @ChitraMadan

Below are the Impl class

-------------------------------------

Impl Class

--------------------

package com.arrowleathers.core.models.logo;

import javax.annotation.PostConstruct;

import org.apache.commons.lang3.StringUtils;
import org.apache.sling.api.SlingHttpServletRequest;
import org.apache.sling.api.resource.ValueMap;
import org.apache.sling.models.annotations.Model;
import org.apache.sling.models.annotations.injectorspecific.ScriptVariable;
import org.slf4j.Logger;
import org.slf4j.LoggerFactory;

import com.arrowleathers.core.models.BaseController;
import com.arrowleathers.core.utils.ArrowLeathersComponentUtil;

@Model(adaptables = SlingHttpServletRequest.class, adapters = CompanyLogo.class)
public class CompanyLogoImpl extends BaseController implements CompanyLogo {

private static final Logger LOGGER = LoggerFactory.getLogger(CompanyLogoImpl.class);

private String logoURL;

@ScriptVariable
private ValueMap properties;

@PostConstruct
protected void initModel() {
LOGGER.info("initModel of CompanyLogoImpl");
try {
LOGGER.info("properties {} ", properties);
if (this.properties != null) {
logoURL = ArrowLeathersComponentUtil.getUrlLink(this.properties.get("linkURL", StringUtils.EMPTY));
}
} catch (final Exception e) {
LOGGER.error("Exception occurred:", e);
}
}

@Override
public String getLogoURL() {
return logoURL;
}

@GokulBakthavachalam ,

@Nikhil-Kumar Thanks for your reply.

I don't see any errors in felix console . Also I am able to install the other java class files using the below configuration. But I am getting use api errors .If I remove this piece of code it is not installing the new class files. So confused with this .

<plugin>
<groupId>org.apache.sling</groupId>
<artifactId>maven-sling-plugin</artifactId>
<version>2.2.0</version>
<executions>
<execution>
<goals>
<goal>install</goal>
</goals>
</execution>
</executions>
<configuration>
<slingUrl>http://${aem.host}:${aem.port}/system/console</slingUrl>
<deploymentMethod>WebConsole</deploymentMethod>
</configuration>
</plugin>

Any help is highly appreciated.
