1) You don't say what version of Communities you have.  If you have not installed any Communities feature packs on AEM 6.1, then that could be the source of your problem.  Please install the latest feature pack.

2) Geometrixx is deprecated as sample code for AEM Communities.

Please either 

• create a community site using the site creation wizard - see also Getting Started tutorial.
• use the Community Components Guide
• coming is the We.Retail reference for Communities in AEM 6.3
