Featured image functionality

I am attempting to use the featured image functionality.

I am unable to find this for our editable templates.

Is featured image only available for aem as a cloud service?

If not, what am I missing getting this to work. Hopefully it is something simple.

I have not been able to find anything searching the web.

You meant feature images in image component, which is offered by core components?

That is correct. Since my post I have discovered Featured Image is supported by Page V3 not Page V2. We are currently using Page V2.
