Extending Calendar Component - AEM 6.1

Avatar

Level 2

Hi, I'm trying to extend the Calendar Component. I followed the link (https://docs.adobe.com/docs/en/aem/6-1/develop/communities/tutorials/extend-comments.html) and tried to replicate the same with Calendar Component, but with no success. The Update and Cancel events are not working.

  • Could you give me details on how to successfully extend the Calendar Component and make it work?
  • Could you please help me in giving information on how to make the Calendar Component work by adding/referring the Component directly from the HTML code, instead of drag and drop?

I really appreciate your help with this.

Thanks, Ravi.

Hi Ravi,

I think I know what you're saying.  I believe, when they moved to SCF, they removed the month view in favor of event pages.

There's a YouTube video on AEM 6.2 calendar feature, which is very similar to AEM 6.1.

Have you tried overlaying the component? That is copy under /apps and modify totle wnd other node props. What happens?

Hi Ravi,

Would you let us know which version of Communities you have on AEM 6.1?

See Deploying Communities : Version 1.8 Feature Pack

And also, would it be possible to share your code with us?

Hi Janice,

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. That got me little closer.
I was on version 1.7. Not I updated the components to the latest after applying the patch on AEM 6.1. Now I'm able to add/delete/modify the Calendar events. But only issue I'm now facing is the calendar is missing though (both in the project I'm working with, and also in the Community-component project i.e. http://localhost:4502/content/community-components/en/calendar.html). Is this is how the new updated Calendar Component works, or am I missing something?

Thanks very much.

Hi Ravi,

I am also trying to do the same customization which you performed. I need to overlay existing OOTB calendar component. After doing that Calendar Component is not loading in any project(both in my project and the Community-Component project ). Component Node is present in /Content/<Project path> but it is not loading properly in the page.

I think you have face the same issue. Please help me with the issue if you get the solution for that.

Thank you very much.
