Can the Dashboard reporting platform reference an external data endpoint?

Hi guys,

We're currently looking at building a web application prototype and the question has been raised that we need to create a reporting dashboard to display KPI data.

Looking through the AEM reports dashboards config guide, the jQuery data request is referencing the /bin/querybuilder.json endpoint.

Our web application frontend will be hosted within AEM, however our data endpoints are all from an external API, and as such we'd like to be able to create custom reporting dashboards using the data from our external API.

Is this possible? Or does AEM only work with internal data sets located in the config guide above in the bin folder?

We're looking at using the AEM reporting options so that our current AEM users will have a single-sign-on experience rather than use a 3rd party reporting solution.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

You could just create a new report template with your code, copy existing stuff and bob is your uncle!
