AEM Smart crop coordinates

Avatar

People who utilize Adobe Experience Manager in a creative aspect:

IS there a way to be absolutely precise while using smart crop in AEM? You can't input coordinates, but you can inspect the item in question via Chrome inspector and see exactly how big the box is, where it's at, etc. however you can't really apply information to affect the ACTUAL crop box/cropping area.

Trying to do smart crops of vehicles that have both the Android and an Apple screen on the dashboard in the same aspect ratios. The images are supposed to be an exact copy of one another, just with different screen interfaces in the vehicle. There has to be a way. I cannot have been the first person to ask this. I've looked on Adobe forums, experienceleague. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi,

Let me clarify what I think might be happening. On one hand, you have "Smart Crop" from Dynamic Media, which uses AI to generate a "smart" crop rendition. This is intended to minimize the effort of creating crop renditions. On the other hand, you have "Smart Crop Image Profiles," which are designed to create crop renditions of specific sizes that are preconfigured by an author. That being said, I think you should explore the latter option.

Here are some videos that I hope you will find useful:

Smart Crop:  https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/experience-manager-learn/assets/dynamic-media/images/smar...

Smart Crop Images Profiles: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/experience-manager-learn/assets/dynamic-media/tutorials/c...

Hope this helps

Hi Esteban,

thanks for the time in directing me to these pages. We already have sizes set up for the dynamic images/smart crop sizing for our folder for several sized images.

what I'm looking for is: Example: the brochure aspect/ratio sizing in image A is the same aspect ratio as image B. It's the same exact part of the car, just with a different display screen.  I need to make sure that when they click on the images in the site there's no image jump from one to the other. Smart crop gave me the examples I'm providing where for some reason and we can see that the smart crop is higher on one than the other (what AI thinks is the focal point).

Is there a way that you can utilize smart crop but more it to exact x & Y coordinates within the comp (sort of like, cropping an image in photoshop to the coordinates x=25, y =25 with a scaling to 20% but still maintaining the scaling ratio of 7:3 so that the images will essentially be able to over lap one another with an exact crop). The images ARE the same sizes (provided image of original). When I overlay the pics from smart crop, you can see that it's higher on one than the other. Is there a way, other than continuously trying to move the crop box up, down sideways, to achieve this? Or is there a pixel crop that I can achieve this? I really appreciate any answers I can get.

we don't have a specific cropping option besides the smart crop that the developers designated (I believe this was to make sure we have the correct dimensions every time).  Pixel Crop looks like exactly what I need, but I guess I cannot access it
