Missing “Create Blueprint / Create Live Copy” option in AEM Cloud Service (Author UI)

Hi everyone,

I’m working in an AEM as a Cloud Service sandbox environment and I noticed that the “Create” button for Blueprints and Live Copies is not available in the Author UI.

What I see

  • The Blueprint Configurations console displays several sample Blueprints (e.g., Experience Fragments, Learning Site, WKND).
  • However, the UI does not show the button to create a new Blueprint or Live Copy.
  • The browser console logs several errors such as:

            Failed to load resource: 400 / 404

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of null (reading 'addEventListener')

Warnings related to MSM overlay paths

What I need to understand

Is there a specific permission, product role, or Admin Console configuration required to enable:

  • Creating new Blueprints
  • Creating Live Copies
  • Using MSM authoring capabilities in AEMaaCS

I want to confirm whether:

  1. This functionality is restricted by default in sandbox environments, or
  2. A specific Admin Console role (e.g., AEM Administrator) is required to make the option visible.

Any guidance or official documentation references would be extremely helpful.

Thanks!

  • In AEM as a Cloud Service (all programs, including sandbox):
    • Blueprint configurations are considered immutable and cannot be created or edited at runtime via the Author “Create” button.
    • MSM authoring (Live Copies, rollouts, etc.) is supported, but the way you create/manage Blueprints is different from AEM 6.5.

Your missing “Create” button is expected behavior, not a misconfiguration.
