Currently the remote SOLR document is filled with all the repository paths which increases the SOLR diskspace
Paths alone.This is to avoid/exclude paths like /var , /etc etc not be indexed as we are interested only in content and dam assets
Please share if any such configuration

I agree that these need to be improved as your question is not really addressed. Can you please open a ticket here for this. Be sure to log a bug against the docs and state what info is missing.
