Both Windows and Linux are viable options for hosting an AEM production environment, and the choice between the two depends on various factors such as organizational requirements, technical expertise, and specific use cases.

1. Compatibility

2. Familiarity and skill set

3. Third-party software dependencies: In some cases, specific third-party software required by your organization's workflows or integrations may have better support or compatibility with Windows. If your AEM deployment relies heavily on such software, choosing Windows could be advantageous.

4. Microsoft-specific technologies

5. Enterprise support

But it's always recommended to consult with Adobe support for guidance on choosing the most suitable platform for your production environment.

Both the options are viable but most preferred option is always Linux.

1. Windows is having some limitation for setting up Heap size.

2. Security perspective, Linux is preferred option.
