the 's' reference is the namespace that Adobe Launch and Adobe Analytic uses. So instead of using 'window.' to reference the window namespace, the solution uses 's.' namespace.
While it is possible to change the 's.' prefix, to 's2.' for example, I don't recommend it unless there is some strong business or technical need to do so.

I think "s" stands for SiteCatalyst, which was the original name of the Adobe Analytics product.
