WebTrends data migration to AA

Hello,

Just checking on using Traffic Data Source but it's no longer available.

https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/analytics/import/data-sources/data-types-and-categories/data...

Would like to see if there's other way to do it?

Thanks,

John

See if the Bulk Data Insertion API is suitable for you: https://www.adobe.io/apis/experiencecloud/analytics/docs.html#!AdobeDocs/analytics-2.0-apis/master/b...

But in general, I wouldn't encourage importing historical data from somewhere into Adobe Analytics. For one thing, AA auto-deletes old data (https://experienceleague.adobe.com/docs/analytics/technotes/data-retention.html?lang=en). For another, your business reporting requirements might have changed or you might want to relook your requirements, so this is a clean slate for you to start afresh.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, aware of the 25-months data retention period and started looking in to the documentation.

Planning to export the WebTrend visitor ID/number and use it as the visitorID in the CSV file, but when checking on the Report Suite config, it states that "Warning: Do not use the Timestamps Optional setting if you are explicitly setting a custom visitor ID (s.visitorID) on timestamped hits, as this can lead to out-of-order data. Once you change the setting to Timestamps Optional, you cannot change it back without assistance from Customer Care. In most cases you will have no need to revert this setting to its previous state." Feel a bit confused here as using visitorID with a timestamp is what we are going to do for historical data? Thanks.

The WebTrends visitor ID is generated by WebTrends itself, right? So once you're 100% on AA, you will never be able to use that WebTrends visitor ID any more.

Personally, I think you can import your WebTrends visitor ID into the required "visitorID" field in the batch file(s). But for all new data, you should just rely on the visitor ID that AA uses, whether it's ECID or something else.

Point is, you can leave your report suite's timestamp setting alone.
