Marketing Channel - Seeing paid media landing pages under "Organic Search"

Hi,

I have some questions in regards to marketing channel with organic search.

When we are looking into traffic by Organic Search, we are seeing the top 5 landing page from this channel includes our paid media landing page (url example: www.domain.com/lp/ppc/test?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=xxxxxx). I have confirmed that this landing page is not indexed on google as visitors won't be able to access it via google search, and this link is distributed on paid media platforms only.

However, when I break down the "organic channel" category, I'm seeing the the paid media LP showing up with high traffic volume. I can't seem to figure out what could be the cause of it as I'm pretty confident that our rule for paid search (priority 1 in processing rules) should capture that. Could anyone please help explain what might be the cause to this? Thank you in advance!

Not sure what is your arrangement with your marketing channel processing rule, But for processing rule, the most important aspect is the arrangement of the processing rule, I think in your case you had the Paid search at position 3rd, But it should be at position 1 instead of 3rd.

Hi @manojs57813206 , thanks for responding. yes paid search is #1 position (with 3 rules associated with it).

Have you checked your Paid Search Detection Rules?

Admin > Report Suites > (choose suite) > Edit Settings > General > Paid Search Detection

These settings drive both of the Marketing Channel rules for "Matches Paid Search Detection Rules" (what is configured in the setting above - based on known search engines in conjunction with the specific campaign data), and "Matches Natural Search Detection Rules" (also using known Search Engines, but do not match the "paid" campaigns).

If you haven't properly configured your Paid Search Detection, then it's likely that your "Matches Natural Search Detection Rules" isn't going to work properly.

On the other hand, the rule you showed a screenshot of matches "ANY" of the specified rules, any one of them could match, but have you actually checked that the dimensions "e. UTM Medium" or "Tracking Code" are actually being set properly? Personally, when it comes to Marketing Channel, I prefer to look at the Query String Parameters directly, for two reasons:

1. I am not sure if the attribution on my dimensions will cause issues with these rules

2. If the dimension fails to set for some reason, I will still be looking at the full URL and parameters

Also, you might want to change your "Set the channel's value to" on Organic Search to something else... Organic Search is very unlikely to have a UTM Source, so you are likely to end up with no detail values here at all....
