Dimensions and Metrics that are Visitor, Visit, and Hit Level

Avatar

Hi Adobe Community,

Is there any Adobe Analytics Documentation that shows which Dimensions and Metrics correspond to each scope? Whether they are visitor, visit, or hit level?

Thanks!

Hey @skatofiabah For metrics, you can refer to -https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/analytics/components/metrics/overview

You might need to go through the description for each metric under this section.

Likewise for dimension you can explore this documentation: https://experienceleague.adobe.com/en/docs/analytics/components/dimensions/overview

Hi @skatofiabah

in general, the Hit, Visit and Visitor scopes are just describing the duration or time span that is taken in consideration when segments are evaluated.

Hit refers to a single server call

Visit refers to a user session, meaning during the span of that visit, a certain condition happened at least once.

Visitor refers to the unique user, meaning that a condition happened for same unique user once or more times, no matter whether it was during a single or different visits.

This may be worth a read:

https://www.datanalyst.info/web_analytics/segmentation-in-adobe-analytics-part-1

"Hit: Adobe includes all hits for which your condition is true. Visit: Adobe includes all the hits of the visits if your condition is true during the visit. Visitor: Adobe checks that your condition is true at some point during your visitor lifetime."

Cheers from Switzerland!

For dimensions, pathing can be set up for props.  This will create an entry and exit version of the dimension.  Classic example is entry page and exit page.  You'll know those are visit-based by the entry and exit portion of the dimension name.

I'm not sure if there's documentation on metrics, but I know adding metrics such as entries and bounces to a freeform table can bring in data for the entire visit.
