Conditional rolling dates in ReportBuilder

I do weekly and month to date reports in ReportBuilder using rolling dates.  The month to date rolling start date is "cm" so that we can start at the beginning of the month.  The issue is after the last week of the month, in other words during the first week of the following month, "cm" ends up pointing to the beginning of the following month.  This messes up the end of month reporting and requires either a set up to refer to dates in the spreadsheet, a manual changes of the requests, or a seperate report just for the end of the month.

It would be great if there was a conditional aspect to the rolling dates so if run day of month is less than 7 (when I would run the end of month report), then it should start "cm-1m."

That's an interesting concept. Perhaps we could expand our custom date functions to include items such as Current Week's Month (cwm) to select the month's date based on the first day of the week as opposed to the current date. Of course, you then run into issues based on the perceived first day of the week, but it could work if measures are taken to account for that. What do you think, ablank?

I have an ARB report that looks at the current month, and I refresh it daily to get the prior days visitor #s. On July 1st though, for example, "cm" will no longer represent June, and I will have to manually input the last day of the month. I'm looking from cm to cd-1d, daily granularity. I'm not sure how to address though because once I close out the month, I duplicate that months tab to pull it out of ARB, then refresh the ARB version to start the next month. I hope the fix that's being considered could help me with this use case as well. Thanks!

Hi Michelle,

 

I am not sure I fully understand what exact functionality you are requesting we add here. We have a "resfresh as of date" feature that allows you to run the report for the last day of the month after the data has come in without changing the nature of the request. Many of our clients use this to refresh the data blocks for these types of situations. Did you have another idea as to how this should be addressed?
