Add functionality to share the "edit" right for segments and metrics

Hi all,

in our company, we have more than 2000 components, such as segments & metrics, which are used for various reports.

It happens - maybe once a year - that we need to make adjustments to individual components.

This will sometimes lead to problems, when the owner of such a component is not available, because if we have to make such adjustments, it usually has to be done on short notice.

The issue here is, that the ownership (or editor right) for a component cannot be shared with different business users.

You can share a component with other users, but those users will not have the right to edit the shared component.

Yet, in our normal business setup, we have teams of multiple colleagues, who manage various sets of these components together.

So it would be great for these teams, if you could share edit rights with other people, or at least assign general editor rights to a central user group.

This is needed so that the colleagues can support each other, in case somebody is out of office, when urgent adjustments need to be made.

We know that brand administrators can make these changes, but from our perspective, brand admin is not a business user group and should not be needed as a workaround for this.

We also do not want to grant brand admin to our business end-users.

Agreed, these sort of rights are really needed... People shouldn't need to be elevated to Admin level just so they can support segments that pertain to them.

This is a great idea! I think a feature that would allow updates to segments to reflect in other assets (especially segments) where the segment is used/included would be tied closely to this. I do get why the system does not allow for changes to transfer automatically (I have seen a lot of users who are quick to delete things), but it can be very tedious if a segment needs to be updated and is used in several assets.

In my case, I would not share that ability to a non-Admin or in a crowd-source sharing situation. It's a skill level + accountability issue.  Not having that capability makes it easier to say no.

While I agree that core segments shouldn't be shared (and I would have no trouble telling people a hard no if asked), when I am working with non-admins on troubleshooting reports where I have given them edit rights to the report, they should also have edit rights on the ad hoc segments.

The same goes for say our Sales team, they should be able to create reports and segments in their own stream and share editing rights with one another without needing an admin to step in to make changes if the original creator is on vacation or no longer works for us....

Until this will be implemented,

maybe this idea might help you:

We created a group account where all central elements are created. So all reworks can be done in this account. This is still annoying but currently our best fix.

That is actually a good idea as a workaround.

Yet, we have very strict access restrictions and use Federated IDs with SAML authentication.

So I assume this will not be possible for us, since we cannot create shared accounts unfortunately.
