When trending a report (for example: site section report) I would like to be able to compare This Year vs. Last Year performance, currently this functionality is not available. The ability to easily report on Year over Year performance is very important for retailers and should be a basic system functionality.

This is available in Ad Hoc Analysis (and Report Builder) today. We have plans to bring it to the web (Reports & Analytics) soon.
