What's optimal usage of Marketing Channel Detail?

We're not using marketing channel detail (MCD) much right now. What are we missing out on?


I see it can be configured by marketing channel, which is nice. It doesn't seem to carry classifications when populating MCD with an existing classified evar (or other), so there's duplicate work there.


Are there automated processes available or some benefit to using MCD as an Adobe-provided dimension, or is it just a remnant of earlier times?

Where I'm at we use that to see the campaign name and details. Marketing channel shows us only the channel (like QR code), Marketing Channel Detail will show us what campaign the code was for and were it was distributed. It is useful if there are multiple campaigns ran on different channels.
