Report Display Help with Custom Prompts

I've created a custom prompt in a report based on dates, current year or previous year. Can I display a chart in the dashboard with Current Year data only? Or will the chart bring in all of the data based on the report's filter. I would rather the dashboard open with the default custom prompt data instead of displaying prompts in the dashboard. I would love to have a custom chart/display option. Thank you!
