My Project widget columns not matching columns in layout

My Project widget columns are not matching columns I have set up in layouts-home-widget settings-project. Where do My Project widget default columns come from? The only way I can make the layout my project widget columns show is to log in as each user and open columns filter, which seems to be a bug. Non-admin users don't have filter edit access so needed to change filter access before logging in. I need an admin way to show the layout project widget columns for each user. Thanks.

The columns, filters and groupings of the widgets can be adjusted from the layout template.

Setup > Interface > Layout Template > Customize what users see : Select "Home" > Widget settings.

Thanks. I have the project layouts set up like I want, but that layout isn't being seen by the users. The only way I can get the layout to show properly for a user is to add the access level filter permission and log in as the user and refresh their home screen. This shouldn't be manual.

I have these layout project widgets set:

The users with the above layout see:

Also, where do these default (non-layout) my project fields come from that are showing in user's my projects?
