SOLVED

I need ideas on any possible way to set up projects with a specific status so that they cannot be deleted even if someone has manage access. We have people accidentally deleting projects that house request queues. Any ideas are appreciated.

Hi Pamela,

I don't know of a way using a Project Status value (e.g. making it On Hold would also "freeze" the project), but instead, suggest you create a Billing Record (e.g. "*** DO NOT DELETE ***") and mark it as Billed, which has the longstanding pleasant side effect of thereby preventing the project from being accidentally deleted. In fact, this (automating such do-not-delete billing records) is one of the uses of our Auto Bill solution.

Doug

good idea, thanks for sharing. I also thought of adding a doc and checking it out as that also keeps a project from being deleted. thanks again.

What we do is not allow anyone to delete projects, but instead have a status called "Deleted."

Then a sysadmin reviews to verify a lack of fiscal data and deletes these on a regular basis.
