How to filter a report by the date the project status changed?

I keep a report for my team of projects we moved to a "dead" status. The list is growing, so we wanted to set up a filter for items moved to the "dead" status within the past year. I can't seem to locate a good way to filter a list of projects by the date in which they were moved to a specific status. Does anyone know how to do that?

Hi - when I need to find this out, I use a Note report and do a filter where "audit text contains Cancelled". I use a similar process on a custom dashboard in a layout template so people can see who completed tasks in a project. You could do that in a portfolio easily.
