Default Task Views - Collapsed to Parent Tasks

I was hoping the community could help with an issue... We'd like to be able to have the default view for a project task list collapsed to a parent level (hopefully one that can be at a second or third parent level), but we have not been able to do so. Is there a setting that enables this? One of our templates has 211 tasks which is overwhelming for a number of our project leaders. We've implemented a short form version that gets it below 100, but buries the detail in word documents attached to the task. Ultimately, this is not a great solution as tracking and timing can get lost. We believe that having the full detail of the 211 but "hiding" some of the subtasks for most folks would be best. Any help is appreciated! Jason Moore Bush Brothers & Company

Looks like it's a new feature that's coming soon, I just read this on the Sandbox update document that went live last week: "https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000077594#new-project-list-expeirence"> https://support.workfront.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000077594#new-project-list-expeirence · The list displays up to 2,000 items by default. Prior to this enhancement, the list displayed 100 items. · Groupings are collapsed by default. Prior to this change, groupings were expanded by default. · The area for selecting a row has expanded to the entire row

Nice find, @Adina Pierce -- 2000 rows with Groups collapsed by default will be very helpful. Jason, in the meantime, I suggest you consider creating a set of Filters based on the level of indentation that users would find helpful, and would result in less than the current 100 row default. @Vic Alejandro , @Layne Hedrick and I were discussing the concept recently in "https://community.workfront.com/discussions/community-home/digestviewer/viewthread?MessageKey=68a0f078-e7b9-4f65-94bd-714cf3a6d661&CommunityKey=aaafaff0-5e4e-4e38-8903-f1f990935567&tab=digestviewer#bm68a0f078-e7b9-4f65-94bd-714cf3a6d661#bm1">this thread . For example, if you created Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, and Level All as Filters and shared/trained your users on them, they could choose their favorite, knowing that it would be "sticky" (even if they logged out and came back). That way, even though the groups won't collapse until the release Adina mentioned shows up, at least they can default to <100 rows on the first pass, then switch to Level All (or "Nothing") when they need to see everything. Ehm...on closer inspection, the announcement Adina found was prefaced with this statement: Only the lists in the Projects tab of the Projects area of Workfront have been updated to this new experience. To my reading, that means that even after the new functionality is released, Tasks (and everything except the Projects tab of the Projects area) will continue to be capped as they are now (e.g. 100 Tasks upon initial load). So Jason, the Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level All Filters might be As Good As It Gets, for now. Regards, Doug Doug Den Hoed - AtAppStore Got Skills? You are right, I totally read that wrong! It's just on the projects page (not the project page) Adina Pierce Cisco

Thanks Adina, Doug, and Kathy-Ann! I'll look into the leveling filter. If I can get that to work, it is a perfect solution. Jason Moore Bush Brothers & Company
