Hi!
Our department is looking to create a customizable project plan with Workfront. We cannot afford Workfront Planning. Has anyone successfully done this and if so, please share any tips and tricks you may have! Thank you!

Hi Jennifer,
This is a difficult question to answer without much context. There are ways to "customize" what your users and PMs see within a project plan; as example, you could create a unique view so they see only tasks fields that are necessary. Within those users layout template you could set this view for them, in addition, within the layout template you can identify the most useful items on the left hand panel for them to use and remove anything else that is not necessary. You can show the Gantt/timeline view with the click of a button inside of your project plan, if that is a need. Happy to provide more ideas if you have more context.

I appreciate the insight. The biggest caveat we are facing is that we need to be able to type within the custom fields (we use Smartsheet and/or Microsoft Lists to make project plans now). We also need to be able to share the project plans within Workfront with other Contributors to provide insight on certain fields. I don't believe Workfront can do that if you have a Contributor license.

Contributors can be given view access to view project plans, that could include views with custom fields within the plan for them to view and they could provide info in the updates section but you're correct they won't be able to do any updates into the project plan or fields
