We would like to track our marketing objectives and key results somewhere visible to everyone and easy to update continuously. Anyone using Workfront to do that? If you are, can you please let me know how to and what are your best practices? Norma Awad Manager of Change Management, Marketing Technology Esri

We've jerryrigged Workfront into tracking our Strategic Plan. Our Strategic Plan has several layers - Thematic Goals, Defining Objectives, Standard Operating Objectives, Projects, then Milestones. On the back end, we have a separate Portfolio just for the Strategic Plan and a Program for each unit that has Strategic Plan items (Academics, IT, Fiscal, Marketing, etc.). The Standard Operating Objectives (SOOs) are Projects within the appropriate Program. The Projects are Parent tasks within the appropriate SOO project, and Milestones are subtasks under the Parent tasks. We have a Project Custom Form attached to every SOO project the maps the SOO to the appropriate Defining Object and Thematic Goal as well as identify other key fields such as the fiscal year and owner. We have a request queue setup that we update with the correct custom forms quarterly where identified users will go in and provide updates on their items. We run reports to aggregate updates and put them into a one pager to be sent to our Board. We also run reports when we prepare for upcoming quarters to see what was reported as Cancelled or Complete in the last quarter so we can remove them as options that need to be reported on. Let me know if you want additional information or clarification on anything I said here. I'm happy to provide more information. Mohini Sinha, CSM Project Coordinator Excelsior College

Mohini, I am trying to do something similar. I have worked with Workfront for about 3 years from the marketing side. I am now in the PMO organization and need to create the dashboards to show Weekly accomplishments, next week's focus (etc.) But we want the fields to display as rows in each section (similar to the "risk report" in the business case). Any advice on how you set up the grouping/reporting part would be appreciated. Erin McMurray ePMO
