Remove the "Your administrator disabled the ability to link documents from external applications...."

Please remove the "Your administrator disabled the ability to link documents from external applications. Contact your system administrator for more information." that appears in the Add Document drop-down.

If a user doesn't know something doesn't exist, they won't miss it. Telling them their admin is preventing something is really just unfair. In our case, our organization is the one preventing cloud service providers -- we have no control over this.

In addition, it creates more clutter.

In addition, if our users were so inclined, they indeed WOULD contact us to discuss this! I don't have time for that... We have hundreds of users.

100% agreed.

Showing this label makes the assumption that the user needs to be told of this restriction each and every time they use this drop-down. I would argue that this is not the case. Also - why is it a bad thing that users can't upload to SharePoint or Box or Google Drive? It's assuming that this is such a bugbear of users that they need to be reminded to speak to their SysAdmin about this dreadful loss of functionality every single day. At the most, show it once. Most companies will have an onboarding process anyway for new users where this will all be explained...

Yes, this is a weird design and one has to wonder what the discussion was in the design meeting where this approach was determined. Among many other problems, the message implies that the administrator has options. Another message could be, "Your administrator is required by corporate policy to not allow the ability to link documents from external applications, but the option shows up here anyway and can't be removed."

Update: a fix to this has been rolled-out which means that the message is wrapped to the normal width of the drop-down list, so the message still remains.

Ha! I'm not sure that's an improvement...

So, I realized that it's not fixed on our end either... We've just started using WF DAM so since the DAM option now appears in the drop-down, the message is gone. Sorry!
