Predecessor changes showing on Update Feed / Journals

Currently, if someone makes changes to a task by adding or removing its predecessors, this is not recorded to the Updates tab of the task.

We have had a case where someone removed predecessors from a task which caused its planned dates to change. However because there was no record of the predecessors being removed, we had no idea why the dates had changed.

It took me around an hour to work it out, by going into the sandbox and comparing the tasks to how they were on the previous weekend.

Having task dates appear to move for no apparent reason also concerns our users and undermines their confidence in Workfront.

I propose that Workfront should log to the Updates tab / Journal whenever predecessors are added or removed.

I have had the same issues - troubleshooting what changed on a project and having no log that it was a predecessor change.

Yes, please! I vote for this - a drop down that could be added for the reason why a date changed would be great. Also, it would be great to check a box in Edit Project that would allow a date on the following task to auto-adjust when the predecessor task is complete (so, if task #1 gets completed, the following task would adjust to a start date of today - or whatever date the prior task was complete). Perhaps that's already possible?

I don't think that is possible but I really like that idea Sharon. I wouldn't want it to work that way on all tasks with predecessors but if you could do it for some that would be good. Kind of fits with the AI concept of auto allocations which is coming. Maybe it could even work with approvals. I.e. if the first take finishes early and the date can be moved earlier then fire off an approval to the PM/Resourxe Manager to approve.

It seems that one viable design would be to allow this to be set as an option in the Updates Feed area in Setup. So, those who would like to see it can and those who don't won't.
