Audit Trail for Approvals/Changes so ALL Approvers are Alerted

During the Workfront R1 2017 Release Webinar, we learned that users can make changes to a custom form while it is still pending approval. I'm concerned with this change because if you have multiple approvers for something, every required approver could go on with approving and when it gets to the last step, that person can change it to something else and it would look like all of the former approvers approved the new change, when they haven't even seen it.

This can cause approvers to appear as though they approved something, when they haven't.

For example, we have a request queue set up for investment approvals. We require 3 different people to approve. When I submit the form, I could be requesting $10k for our quarterly investment budget. Person A approves. Person B approves. I go in and change it to a higher amount, let's say $20k before the last person, Person C approves. There is no documentation that I went in and made this change so it now looks like Person A, B, & C all approved for $20k, when really Person A & B only approved $10k. I think it's extremely important to have a feed that shows/alerts approvers when someone has edited or changed information while pending approval.

Thank you for the feedback Brooke.

We do understand that the feature can be useful for some of our users, but for the others it can cause problems. So we have put a setting in place to let you control whether or not you want to have that functionality. It's located under Setup -> Processes -> Approvals -> Settings , please see the screenshot https://screencast.com/t/UlZoKxQuyP .

Please let me know if this addresses your concern.

Kind regards,

Thanks, Anna. I understand we can turn that off, but we still want to be able to edit forms that are pending approval. There are many reasons we would want to be able to edit the form. We just want to be able to track the changes & have an audit trail. So unfortunately, turning that function off doesn't do the trick for us.
