After breaking down our coarse grain backlog stories we end up with a nicely detailed backlog of small enough pieces to actually work on. Unfortunately, those details are lost on most except for the dev team. We need a view that shows the high-level stories only and hides all the detail. Requested feature would collapse all stories by walking up the parent task tree to the highest parent task assigned to the agile team (hence the original coarse grain story). Estimates are summed and % complete is aggregated as expected for a parent task. Parent tasks are listed in backlog order of the earliest sub-story it was broken down into.
This view is useful to communicate to management where the dev team is for progress on tasks at the granularity they can understand.
