Can you use Calendar name instead of Calendar ID in the Microsoft Outlook 365 connection?

Hi,

In the Microsoft 365 calendar connection parameters, it prompts for a calendar id:

However, I notice in the calendar id field there is no way to enter a calendar name.

The reason I am asking is we have shared mailbox/calendar in that created for our organization but it was created by our administration group, and hence, we don't have permissions to view any of the details.

The calendar shows up fine in our calendar list in Outlook under the Shared Calendars group as we can add it.  However, I don't see a way to add this calendar to our connection for Outlook 365 without the id.

If someone could please assist it would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Nick

Hi @NicholasPa1,

If I'm understanding correctly, you have a Microsoft 365 Group calendar that is shared with you and you want to create an event on that shared calendar using Fusion but it is not available in your drop down list of calendars in the Calendar ID field?

First, the reason it doesn't show up in the dropdown in Calendar ID field is because it is not a calendar that belongs to your user connection, rather it belongs to a group mailbox.

Second, if you have the right permissions to the Microsoft 365 Group calendar, I have found a workaround that you can try out. See below for steps. I've also attached screenshots showing my configuration.

I've created a basic scenario with three modules and a filter:

  • Microsoft 365 Calendar - Make an API Call: Fetch calendar metadata for calendars I am a member of using the endpoint /v1.0/users/<YOUR USER ID>/memberOf?$select=id,displayName,groupTypes.

  • Iterator: Iterate on the returned calendars I am a member of

    • Filter: Filter after this module and before next: Filter by the Display Name of the calendar I am looking for

  • Microsoft 365 Calendar - Make an API Call: Create an event on the shared calendar from the filter using the endpoint /v1.0/groups/<ID FROM FILTERED SHARED CALENDAR>/events.

By using the "Make an API Call" modules, you can target these endpoints to work with Group calendars that are shared with you. If I've misunderstood the question, please let me know and I'll be happy to dig into it further!
