Thanks, Niall. I don't have the workbench, so used your image suggestion. I probably took the long way around the barn, but I used GIMP to convert the PDF pages to TIFs, and embedded those into new pages in the existing form.

The notes are independent of the steps. That is, there may be many steps, but only one notes field.

An example illustrating my problem is attached. The problem: I have a positioned subform, page breaks allowed. On the right this (main)subform contains an expandable (notes) text input object, page breaks allowed. On the left, it contains a flowable subform, page breaks allowed. This subform contains a (step) subform with an expandable text input object, page breaks allowed. The user can create copies of the step subform. If the user enters enough text in the notes field to force a page break, t...

I have a multi-page expandable LC form. It has been functioning fine for several months, but now I must attach two pages of static pdf to the end. It is so easy to do in Acrobat, I assumed the same would be true in LC, but I have not figured out the combination. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

In this case, I find that inserting an ALT-255 character does add some space, even in the rendered view. I don't know what is going on in the black box, but it does add a little space. At the end of your caption, hold down the Alt key, and press 255 on your number keypad.Darrell

It happens in both design and rendered view. It is a minor aesthetic problem, as the arrow obscures a sliver of the right hand edge of the last character in the text. I tried the old ALT-255 trick, which inserted what looked like a blank in design view, but it disappeared in the rendered view.I can live with this, but it would make my form a little nicer if I could "scootch" the text left a little. Thanks for taking the time to respond.Darrell

When I right justify the text for the items in my drop down list, the control's down arrow partially obstructs the right-most character. I thought I might be able to add a non-breaking space to the right of the text, thus pushing it to the left, and out from under the arrow. Is there a non-breaking space character recognized by LC in this context? If so, how do I create it? Am I overlooking a simpler solution? Thanks.

Paul,I am sorry, but I probably have completely misinterpreted what is going on here. I wish to have a fillable and savable form which I can fill out, but then save it as a static (nonfillable) PDF file. I know I can do this by printing the filled form to the Adobe PDF printer driver, but here is how I tried to use your example:I used Acrobat Pro to activate the extended Reader features.1. I filled out the form. 2. I locked the fields. 3. I saved the form. When I reopened the form in Reader, the ...

Paul,From this thread, it seems like your code would be very helpful to me. I have used the 'print to PDF' trick, but it is not very elegant. If possible, would you please send me a copy of your script? Thank you.darrell.fulmer (AT) mosaicinfo.org

darrell DOT fulmer AT mosaicinfo DOT orgThank you, Paul. I thought this seemed like a fairly simple thing, but have spent quite a bit of time and have not hit on the answer.I have a form which can expand. By convention, the text ' -MORE- ' should appear at the bottom of a page if there is a next page. So, it does not appear if the form only takes a single page, and it does not appear at the bottom of the last page.My idea was to put ' -MORE- ' as a text object at the bottom of the master page, o...

I have a text object on my *master page* -- outside a content area. Depending on user input, my form may grow to several pages. Is it possible to script some event so that the text displays on all but the last page? I have seen examples of xfa.layout.pageCount() and xfa.layout.page(this), but am probably missing an obvious point. I think that point is how, at run time, to know, for example, this is page 3, there are 5 pages in the form -- the master page text should be displayed. Or, even, this ...

My schema's root is SalesCatalogue, which has 0 or more Product, which contains Name, Description, Price, ProductCode and Size. When I created a data connection to this schema, then dragged the connection onto my form, the Name, Description, Price, ProductCode and Size fields appeared in the design view. They were enclosed in a Product subform. When viewing in the preview mode, the form displayed as blank. When I unwrapped the Name, Description, Price, ProductCode and Size fields -- removed the Pr...

Thank you. I will check that. If I create test data, the form appears in preview mode, populated with the test data. If I delete the test data file, the form previews as blank. Is that how things should work?

I was mistaken. The number of rows *does* go to 0. To test, I displayed the total points and number of rows variables with two message boxes. When I click the button to add a row, the point count and the row count increment properly. However, when I click one of the unselected radio buttons in a row, the point total increments correctly, but the row count sometimes is 0.I suspect it relates to the sequence of events related to my use of the Count function to try to determine how many instances of ...

Thanks, Pam. No, no negative numbers (unless it is happening somewhere behind stage). I have used both message boxes, and the commented lines to try to find the problem, but the values always look OK until I do the division.

My form contains a subform (row) with 5 radio buttons, with values (scores) of 5,4,3,2, and 1. The user may add another of these subforms by clicking a button. My intention is to set a field with the average score -- that is, obviously, the total scores, divided by the number of rows. Here is my FormCalc for the calculate event of the Average field -- complete with error message:b Script failed (language is formcalc; context is b xfa[0].form[0].form1[0].Pg1[0].#subform[2].EssentialAv[0])b script=...

I have developed several forms for use on a Linux machine. I am running the Linux version 7.0.1 version of Reader. When I open them, some forms warn that a newer version of Reader is required, I can click through the warnings and the forms function fine. However, when I try opening a particular form, which works fine in a Windows environment, the screen simply blinks -- no error message. I have saved the form as version 7 dynamic, and I have tried publishing it to the repository. Is there anyone...
