We have not installed AEM JEE as we try to avoid another server for this. We are now looking in how adobe's out-of-the-box solution should work as we have no idea. We will build on Adobe's solution in this case. Be it a custom servlet, component or any other option.

Was getting stuck on ...if (policy instanceof AccessControlList) {..The only value I could in online samples are "instanceof PrincipalSetPolicy". Question: Do you know if there is a complete list of possible values for "policy instanceof ????"  

In the end I used:AssetManager to store the asset in the JCRExternalizer to get the proper URL for the assetAccessControlManager to assign read access to the user for the assetjob "ScheduledTask implements Runnable" task to cleanup the JCR after a certain time to make sure the JCR is kept clean
